Helping Hands have an established food programme as part of their outreach work that sees teams go out to all corners of the city and serve hot food in the form of a main meal and pudding.
The food that we give out week in and week out is freshly homemade food, that is made with love. Our team normally end up cooking for around 10 hours to prepare one week worth of food for the Sunday Evening Food Outreach. This time doesn’t include going to the supermarket and purchasing the ingredients.
The Food Outreach Programme is paid for out of the charitable donations that are made to Helping Hands Portsmouth by the generous public.
How can you help?
You can help in a variety of ways and you are welcome to help in whatever way suits you the best.
Donate money towards the cost of the week’s food
Each week it costs around £40 to purchase enough ingredients to cook nutritious meals for the ever-growing number of homeless and vulnerable living in Portsmouth. This is for the hot main meal that is given out.
We accept donations online via PayPal. Our email address is: admin@hhportsmouth.com
Have a cook up!
This is where you purchase the food and cook the meals yourself. Collection of the food will be arranged for you prior to the evening. We do warn that this is a tough challenge, especially if you haven’t got any experience of mass catering. Please feel free to contact one of our team to find out how challenging it can be.
